I went into class today as confident as possible. I'll admit, I was quite nervous. I got inside the building and the nerves disappeared. I went to the office, told who I was and who I was there for and then sat down. Around 8am, the secretary told me to go up to 304 where Mr. Polaski would be waiting. She mentioned that he did not know of my coming to his class. I said "OK, thank you" and went up.

I got upstairs and shook his hand and he said he had no idea where Kutztown got his name from. He had not asked for a student teacher type person, nor did he believe he could have a student teacher. I gave him the phone number of the person who sets this stuff up and the day began. He has 5 classes and they are all exactly the same ... SO, by the fourth time, I was bored out of my mind. Anyway, I sat there and read up to where the class was (easy reading since it was 7th grade) and then paid attention to the second class. I then observed other classes and went back and blah blah blah.

He called Kutztown and left a message and I e-mailed them when I got home. I'm a bit annoyed that they wouldn't even tell the teacher I was coming. I mean, the e-mail said the teachers were all looking forward to my arrival so to not tell my co-op teacher I was coming is just plain wrong if you ask me. Ridiculous.

Anyway, the day went fine. The kids were great. They asked me some questions during their talk time but they were very respectful and I did not talk down to them (naturally) so they seemed to like me. It was kind of funny because there were 2 girls (that I noticed) that gave the biggest smiles to me when I was in there. When I was in middle school, girls never gave me the time of day. I see how this works. Anyway, I just found that funny ... but the day went well.

They have a strange schedule at Harrison Morton. On Mondays and Fridays, they have class from 8-2:40. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, they have class until 3:15. Slightly extended classes for the middle of the week I suppose.

One nice note, the school is closed on the 24th (Thursday) so I won't be going there that Thursday or that Friday (since Easter will have arrived). He is a nice guy but it's clear that he really didn't want an observer in his classroom. It's not my fault though and he knows that so we'll just roll with the punches together.

Tomorrow is another day. I came home from school today feeling quite ill. I will NOT be eating cafeteria food again. I don't know what in the world that was all about but I was so nauseous until I ate my dinner ... it was ridiculous, simply awful. I'm just glad I made it through. I got home from school and laid down for 2 hours (fell asleep as well).

One other thing my co-op teacher told me, preparation work doesn't take anywhere near as long as we think it would. That's a plus.

Well, now I'm being IMed so I shall depart. Bye!
