I woke up this morning and found that my internet was not working. Being that it was 6:45 in the morning, I had little interest in troubleshooting the issue. I'm at Kutztown right now pondering what the problem could be. I hope that when I arrive home I will find the internet working and it was just a temporary down time. I hate calling them because it always seems to be more of a "you're retarded" conversation than an actual intelligent conversation.
Have you ever noticed that about tech people? They always assume you have absolutely no knowledge of computers. For instance, the last time this issue occurred, I did what I was supposed to do (and what I was taught to do from it happening a time before). I turn off the modem, the router, and both computers. I wait 30 seconds and then turn the router, modem, and computers back on. When that doesn't work, I call them and they make me do it again because "they need to make sure I did it right." How hard is it to turn off everything? Pretty difficult according to them.
Story #2: today I went to logon to the network here at Kutztown and found it not possible. I went and tried to reset my password and it didn't recognize me as a student at Kutztown. I called the helpdesk for assistance and they told me to come in because they cannot reset passwords over the phone. Fine, I understand that. So I go down there (up there?) to the administration building and locate their room. I proceed and tell them again what the problem is. They tell me to follow the prompts on the screen of the computer to my right so I go to sit down and realize it's the exact same screen I was just dealing with at two separate labs at Kutztown. I went back to the lady and told her I already did that and it wasn't recognizing my account. At that point she finally understood that she would have to do it. Why would I call, come down just to set up my account like I could anywhere else (without supervision). I needed HELP which is why I went to the HELP center. Brilliance.
I now understand why some people are deterred from going to Kutztown by my stories (Laura). It's actually a nice school and doesn't have any more problems than any other university (to my knowledge). Tiff's thinking about going here and that pleases me although I know I wasn't actually the influence beyond that decision but at least my problems are making everyone decide on "anywhere but Kutztown." Best education for your money guaranteed (at least that's what my professors say, one of which went here himself).
This semester is going to be difficult. I can tell. Not so much that the work is challenging but there is a lot of it. When will I find time to do all of this? I really don't know. I haven't had the class that supposedly carries the most work and I'm already feeling a bit overwhelmed about it all. I'm always worried that I'll forget about due dates or some other important thing and as in most cases, you can't hand in work late unless you tell the professor ahead of time. WELL, if I forgot about it, I'm not going to be able to tell you ahead of time that I forgot about it so ultimately you won't accept it anyway.
Quod erat demonstratum.
Cya later -- if my internet works.

i would like to back up your theory that kutztown doesn't have any more problems than the average university... honestly, talk to any college student and they can complain about something at their school and how retarded it is. but that doesn't mean it's not a good school. it's a love/hate relationship. i hate that Housing almost screwed me over TWICE in the same year, but i love pitt anyway...
and yes, i hate when Help desk people treat you like idiots. we're not all stupid...
